Woven through many details of Maggie and Jay’s wedding was the phrase “Best Day Ever.” It was written on the napkins; it was written on their wedding cake; it was written above the seating cards; and it was written across their faces. Anyone at this wedding could tell you that these two nailed their best day ever from getting ready with friends and family, to a ceremony filled with laughs and beautifully chosen words, to a fun photo shoot in Congress Park (that included a little “good luck” rain), to finally getting on that party bus and heading over to Pat’s Barn, where the two could celebrate their new chapter together. Throughout the evening family and friends were reminded of past chapters that got them to where they are today. There were sentimental reminders in both the homily and toasts as well as delicious reminders like when the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream stand showed up to commemorate their time working together there. There were many beautiful moments throughout the evening, but perhaps none more beautiful was during Jay’s cousin’s toast when he said, I don’t know much about marriage, but I know about love… and I know about pizza, and love is like pizza: it sustains you. I hope that like pizza, Maggie and Jay fill each other with a lifetime of sustenance.
